Instead of offering a variety of formatting options, iA Writer is a simple text editor.  Using this app is an ideal way to force yourself to get things done with minimal distractions.  It even offers instant character counts, and a "focus mode" to grey out surrounding text, forcing you to focus on the most recent three lines of text you are working on.
